Finland hopes the decisions taken at the summit will offer a bridge for Ukraine to join Nato in the future.
Finnish President Alexander Stubb will attend the Nato 2024 summit in Washington DC, United States, next week, the Office of the President announced on Tuesday.
Key topics of the summit include strengthening Nato’s deterrence and defence capabilities.
The summit will also focus on deepening Nato’s cooperation with Ukraine and the defence alliance’s support for Kyiv. The Office of the President added that Finland hopes the decisions taken at the summit will offer a bridge for Ukraine to join Nato in the future.
The Washington Summit marks Nato’s 75th anniversary. The programme includes a dinner hosted by US President Joe Biden for Nato leaders.
In addition to Stubb, the Finnish delegation to the summit in the US capital includes Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen (NCP) and Defence Minister Antti Häkkänen (NCP).
