Swedish Energy minister defends himself in row over nuclear power

  • The opposition Moderates have filed a complaint against Sweden’s new energy minister, for stating that Social Democrat-led governments have always regarded nuclear energy as sustainable in their dealings with the EU.
  • The Moderates say that Social Democrat-led governments have instead maintained that there is no majority support in the Swedish parliament for classifying nuclear energy as sustainable.
  • Speaking to Swedish Radio News, energy minister Khashayar Farmanbar says the government has constantly adapted its actions towards the EU according to demands of Parliament’s EU Affairs committee.
