PM Marin reports respiratory symptoms, moves to telecommuting

Prime Minister Sanna Marin (SDP) announced via her official Twitter account on Tuesday morning that she will be taking a coronavirus test and reverting to telecommuting after developing mild respiratory symptoms.

Marin said she will remotely attend the Social Democratic Party parliamentary group’s summer meeting as well as government talks on Tuesday.

This is the fourth time coronavirus suspicions have disrupted the Prime Minister’s working schedule.

In April, Marin went into self-isolation and was tested for coronavirus after an employee at the prime ministerial residence was found to have been in contact with an infected person, but the test proved to be negative.

In early May all of Finland’s ministers, including the PM, switched to remote working when Minister of Social Affairs and Health Aino-Kaisa Pekonen and Minister of Employment Tuula Haatainen were suspected of having being exposed to the virus during government negotiations.

Later that same month Marin took a week long sick leave, which included taking a coronavirus test, after developed flu-like symptoms.
