The latest shipment brings the total value of defence support provided by Finland to Ukraine since Russia’s invasion in February 2022 to 1.5 billion euros.
Finland is preparing to send additional defence materiel to Ukraine, the Finnish Ministry of Defence announced in a press release on Friday.
The latest shipment marks the 20th aid package Finland has sent to Ukraine since Russia’s began its war of aggression in February 2022.
“What is at stake in Ukraine’s defence struggle is the security environment outlook on Europe and Finland in the current decade. Together with our allies, we remain unwavering in our commitment to support Ukrainians,” Minister of Defence Antti Häkkänen (NCP) stated.
The statement noted that the value of the latest package is estimated to be around 100 million euros, meaning the total value of defence support provided by Finland to Ukraine since Russia’s invasion amounts to 1.5 billion euros.
Writing on the social media platform X, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky thanked Finnish President Sauli Niinistö — who signed the order — as well as the Finnish government.
“I appreciate the implementation of our agreements and Finland’s principled stance on the path to a just and sustainable peace for Ukraine and Europe as a whole,” Zelensky wrote.
