Finnish UNIFIL troops unharmed in Lebanon

Some 10,000 troops from around the world serve in UNIFIL.

No Finnish UNIFIL (United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon) peacekeepers have been harmed following Israeli strikes on Lebanon early on Friday, the Finnish Army Command told news agency STT.

The Israeli military carried out air strikes on Lebanon and Gaza in response to some 30 rocket attacks it blamed on the Islamist group Hamas, according to Reuters.

Finnish troops were not in close proximity to the strikes, Finnish officials said.

Some 200 Finns are currently serving in UNIFIL, according to the Finnish Army Command.
