Norway chief promises policy stability as concerns raised about EU regulations

Norway’s top oil and gas bureaucrat has assured the industry that the country will continue to provide a stable and predictable investment framework, but a leading industry advocate has warned about a potential wave of new European Union regulations.

Lars Erik Aamot, director general of Norway’s Ministry of Energy, reiterated the ministry’s message that a key part of the government’s petroleum policy is to help the oil and gas industry to continue supplying energy to Europe, and to create value for Norwegian society and employment.

It does this under the slogan, “develop, not wind up, the petroleum sector”.
