The state is ordering over three million more face masks, ahead of a potential second autumn coronavirus wave.
Minister of Public Administration Jaak Aab (Center) told ERR Saturday that around to to thee times more Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including masks, was needed than had been procured in April.
Aab said there are currently 7.7 million masks in the country’s central stockpile, but three million more were needed.
Over half of this, or 1.7 million, would need to be surgical masks, ERR reports, with a need for FFP2 and the higher filtration percentage FFP3 masks, including close to 370,000 of the latter, are required.
Aab said the figure has changed due to daily use in hospitals.
Supermarket chain Prisma has started stocking more masks; hardware store Bauhaus has FFP2 and FFP3 masks for sale on its webstore only, after running out of stock in the bricks-and-mortar stores.
